Remembering John

John Robert Roby passed away Monday, November 14th, 2011. He was at home in his bed. John graduated from Jenks High School in May 2011, and was studying at TCC.

A loving son, a loyal friend, and a kind and caring brother, John was always happy when helping others – caring for children, animals, and others in need. He hoped to one day settle in a small town, where he could help both people and animals the rest of his life.

DONATIONS

In lieu of flowers, John’s family hopes that his friends and loved ones will instead make a donation to Therapetics.  This organization helps train service dogs for Oklahomans.  John had always wanted to find a way to help both people and animals, and he had intended to begin volunteering with Therapetics soon.

Please make donations using this link, and list his name under the “Purpose” field at the top of the donation page.  Thank you for your help in supporting a cause so close to his heart.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Thank you to everyone who has expressed their warm thoughts and memories. John cared deeply for all of his friends, and would have wanted this to serve as a lesson for them, and others.  The following is quoted from one of John’s recent school papers:

“You should look for friends and family to help you, and not use drugs to get over something. Seeing the effects that drugs have, not only on you but on the family and friends that care about you… It’s stupid…”

Please do not let John’s passing be in vain. You have your whole life ahead of you. And while it may feel like you have to experience it all, and experience it now, good decisions will ensure you have plenty of time.  John would have wanted this for you.

“People, please spend as much time as you can with those you love, or you won’t know how much you love them till they’re gone.”
